The Video Tom Didn’t Want You To See

Wouldn’t it be cool if we could see what goes on behind closed doors in the world of Scientology? Every once in awhile information slips out that’s not intended for the general public. I heard not too long ago that there was a video of Tom Cruise gushing about Scientology. It was supposed to be up on YouTube but when I looked for it YouTube had removed it. YouTube commented on the removal with “This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Church of Scientology International.” That means that the video was not for public consumption…I was on a mission to see the video!
Out of the blue, a close friend of mine who shares my disdain for Scientology recently forwarded me a link to the newly resurfaced video. Inside I found what I was looking for…total lunacy. The video is of Tom sitting in a nice room, chatting to the camera…well, hamming to the camera is more like it. There is music similar to Mission Impossible playing. I think this is done to show how cool he is.
“Being a scientologist, when you drive past an accident, its not like anyone else. As you drive past you know you have to do something about because you know you’re the only one that can really help. That’s what drives me, is that I know we have an opportunity to really help for the first time and affectively change peoples lives and I am dedicated to that, absolutely, uncompromisingly, dedicated to that.”
So before he was a scientologist would he have driven past someone in dire need? Now that he IS a scientologist he would promptly jump out of his car and run to help. While he helped he would sincerely tell the person that L. Ron Hubbard loves them and to have a cookie.
To further his ridiculous statements made during his interview with Matt Lauer, Tom expands on how Scientologist are special:
“We are the authorities on getting people off drugs. We are the authorities on the mind. We are the authorities on improving conditions. Criminal, we can rehabilitate criminals, way to happiness, we can bring peace, unite cultures. If you are a scientologist, you see life, you see things the way they are, in all its glory, all of its complexity and the more you know as a scientologist you don’t become overwhelmed by it.”
What has scientology done for you lately? I have never heard of Scientology doing any of these things. That doesn’t mean they don’t do it does it? I can’t wait to let Steve know that his life long effort to understand the human brain is over now that Tom Cruise is an authority on the mind. Oh and lets not forget “improving conditions.” Step right up folks, its quick, it’s safe, it’s so safe it’s going quick…it’s Tom Cruises’ oil for improving conditions! Just write me a check for 300k made out to L. Ron Hubbard and forget your family…
I will leave you with Tom’s thoughts on the future:
“So it’s our responsibility to educate, create a new reality. We have that responsibility to say hey, this is the way it should be done, because we do it this way and people are actually getting better.”

Outstanding. What a total whack job. That was even more painful to watch than “Cocktail.”
My favorite quote: “I’m carrying my load [presumably his load of BS], and not only that, as much as I’m carrying I still feel like I gotta do more.”

Tom has learned so much from Scientology. He knows. He knows. He knows.
I thought the creepiest part was when he said that he wants to “get those spectators either in the playing field or out of the arena.” That’s how he really feels about it. Ouch.

Jay, why such venom towards Tom Cruise? You have stated in previous pod cast that he has provoked the most ire in you and that he is on the top of your list of most hated individuals. After listening to Tom in this video, I don’t see it. How are his beliefs crazier than any other fundamentalist belief set out there?
I’m constantly hearing Christians state how crazy Scientologist are, but from my point of view Zenu is no more crazier of an belief than Jesus’ return, the whole Rapture thing and the coming apocalypse.

I can just see Tom at the scence of an accident, whipping out his portable e-meter and getting down and dirty with the engrams of some poor slob who’s lost a couple of pints of blood. What an image!

I got into a discussion with a Scientologist in a completely inappropriate forum a couple months ago. He claims that their criminal reform program (criminon? I forget what it’s called) has a 4% percent rate of recidivism. Considering that recidivism of released prisoners in the US is between 50% and 80%, I’m pretty sure that any program which could drop that to under 10% would be instantly adopted by every prison in the country, and in every other country.
He then went on to claim that their narcanon program, which supposedly helps you get off drugs, works by having you sweat out the toxins from the drugs which are stored in your body’s fat cells. Um, if that were true, wouldn’t getting liposuction cure you of your heroine addiction? If that were the case, there’d be no movie stars addicted to drugs!

Wow. No wonder Tom is so avoidant of psychiatric drugs: he’s just shy of a psychotic diagnosis himself! I have seen videos of textbook schizophrenics that communicate fewer vaguaries than Tom does in this ridiculous, derailed soliloquy. Delusional, not unlike L. Ron Hubbard [I'm sure Tom would be proud of that comment]!
Tom: Time to sit down with a mental health professional and get yourself on a little Halperidol.
Thanks, Jay, for tracking this down, despite the death threats from Xenu!

If scientology allowed their followers to take psychiatric drugs, there wouldn’t be any more scientologists!

I saw portions of the video on the BBC evening news on Wednesday. The news presenter made the point that the Church of Scientology had released a tape of their reporter getting rather annoyed with a Church goon whilst making a report about them. Let’s see if the Church wants to take on the BBC. In the following there’s a link to parts of the clip but it may not work outside of the UK.

He’s a dangerously deluded man and that video was painful to watch; I can only hope that it completely f*cks his career up and saves others from the clutches of his fruity little club.

Because Scientology is a cult by definition and it attacks and tries to destroy people who say anything against it. This includes maliciously attacking people who are revealing the truth about bad things that the group is responsible for causing. Scientology is very dangerous and I can see you don’t recognize that.

Sceptic, I think you overestimate the power of Scientology. Yes, it is indeed a cult and as a former member of the Boston Movement, I understand more than most how hurtful these aberrant religious movements can be. Scientology is hurtful and emotionally harmful to some (most likely many) individuals, but “very dangerous?” I think that claim is dubious at best. The People’s Temple and other similar movements are dangerous (specifically to those involved) but L. Ron Hubbard is no Jim Jones. I would argue that the Evangelical movement in this country is far more dangerous than Scientology. Scientologist haven’t successfully banned crucial research in stem cells, nor worked to poison science in our schools. Scientologists don’t believe Islam is of Satan and that for world peace to be achieved it must first be cleansed by fire and death. Scientologist haven’t worked their way into the fiber of our government (and for the past seven years, the oval office).
That really wasn’t the point of my comment, and after rereading it, I admit it wasn’t too clear. All I’m saying is that to me, if you’re going to be upset about someone’s religious beliefs, your ire should be directed towards the group that is most assaulting or threatening your way of life. In this regard, Tom Cruise is insignificant, a non-factor. Mike Huckabee on the other hand is far from it.
Of course, I mean no offense to Jay, I think it’s pretty damn funny when he goes off on Tom. Just why not hate Chuck Norris equally as much?

Chuck Norris is only mislead. Hate the ignorance; not the ignoramous.
